Sunrise on the way to Mesa Verde came over this windmill in New Mexico along the
Chaco Canyon entrance road.

From an overlook along the way to the top of Mesa Verde, we saw this view of the
Rocky Mountains of Colorado about 40 miles away.

Spruce Tree House pueblo is nestled in an alcove that faces west.

A kiva at lower right is one of the features of the pueblo, which is
one of the best preserved. One kiva has a reconstructed roof.

Archaeologists are actively working at Spruce Tree House. Here workers are measuring

Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde is viewed from the overlook above it. You must climb down
the canyon to visit this large site, and perhaps the most famous of the Mesa Verde
cliff dwellings.
